Information for referrers
Do you know a child or family who would be eligible to receive funding?
Who can refer a child for CAF membership?
Any professional working with a family/child can refer them for CAF Membership and it’s very easy to do.
Professionals who are eligible to refer include:
Head Teachers and Deputy Head Teachers
Health Visitors
GPs
Social Work
Third sector organisations including East Lothian Young Cares, Carers of East Lothian, Homestart, the Foodbank, North Berwick Youth Project, Support from the Start.
If your profession/organisation is not listed here, please contact us to discuss. We are constantly adding to this list and are keen to ensure we reach all eligible families.
How do I refer a child/family for CAF membership?
Simply print off the referral form. The parent/carer fills in the first page. They may need some help, particularly with selecting which activities their child might like to do. Check out our What’s On Guide or check out the holiday camps for Summer 2025 pages for a full list of available activities.
Then, as the referrer, you’ll need to fill in the 2nd page. Please verify that the child/family meet the eligibility criteria and tick which document you have seen. We do not need to see a copy of these documents. It is the role of the referrer, as a professional, to assess the eligibility of each family.
If you are not sure if a child/family is eligible, please get in touch with us and we would be delighted to discuss with you.
What happens next?
Once you, or the parent/carer has submitted the form to us please email us to let us know that you have made a referral. _____Then either (either via email or handing into the North Berwick Community Centre or their school), we will contact the parent/carer to issue them with a CAF number and support them to book into their preferred activities.
