About CAF
The Children’s Activity Fund (CAF) is a North Berwick and Coastal Area Partnership funded programme giving children aged 0 - 12 years the chance to take part, experience a range of activities, be active, connect with others and enjoy the best that East Lothian has to offer.
CAF received £12,000 to fund eligible children to attend holiday and term time activities that will provide fun opportunities, especially to those most adversely affected by low income and the Cost-of-Living Crisis
History
The Children’s Activity Fund (CAF) began life during the summers following COVID-19, when the Scottish Government allocated funding specifically to support children most adversely affected by the pandemic to take part in activities over the summer holidays in 2021 and 2022.
The Gullane Village Association successfully applied for and administered grants of £5,000 and £2,000, respectively, to support children based in Gullane from priority families to attend summer camps. However, the funding always ended in August, and many children were unable to continue activities into the new year.
In 2024, the North Berwick Children and Youth Partnership successfully applied for a grant of £12,000 from the North Berwick Coastal Area Partnership. This donation allowed us to reestablish the fund, but with a wider remit to include all children from eligible families aged 0 - 12 across the whole North Berwick Coastal Area. All eligible children are now able to take part in activities across the year, both term time and holiday camps.
